The regular season racing will be put on hold for this Sunday night's annual All-Star Race excitement. This even was moved to North Wilkesboro Speedway last season after two seasons at Texas Motor Speedway. North Wilkesboro Speedway has been renovated to bring back this little part of NASCAR history. In this 5/8-mile oval, you'll see some of the most exciting short track racing that you'll see on the circuit. There are 14 degrees of banking in the corners as well. This location has played host to NASCAR's top division for a number of years and has had many legends with its confines. Because of the popularity of the event last season, we're back with more fun festivities this season.

There are several parts to the All Star Open and it has been broken down into two qualifying heats that are 60 laps each. This will be what sets the grid for the race on Sunday. On that Sunday night, you'll see a 100-lap race that has been split into two parts with a 4-tire pit stop that is mandatory. In addition, three Open drivers will be allowed to take part in this race. Two of these drivers will have qualified in the open and the other is voted on by the fans. To qualify, the driver that we're speaking of will have finished inside the Top 50 of the Cup Series standings in 2023, competed in a NASCAR Cup Series Race in 2024 or attempted to qualify for the Daytona 500 this season.

The All-Star race will be held later in the night after the Open. It is after the Open and is a 200-lap event that will be divided into three parts. The first break is after lap 100, then after lap 150. The winner of this race will win the large sum of $1 million. Look for Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. to be in the running when all is said and done.

After 110 races without a win, Brad Keselowski finally ended his drought and earned the win. Between being patient, in addition to being stubborn, Keselowski was able to get that elusive victory. It was also his first win as the principal owner of the RFK Racing team. Keselowski was being stubborn in that he aggressively stayed on beside Tyler Reddick after the restart on Lap 261. He ended up running the No. 45 Toyota up the track in Turn 3 and battled until the end. Reddick was then able to pass Keselowski to fight for the lead, all the while Keselowski stayed patient and waited for the drama to unfold. Reddick's car slid up the track and put Buescher into the wall and while all that was happening, Keselowski took the lead on Lap 285. He was able to hold on until the end.

NASCAR Playoff Standings

Denny Hamlin still sits at the top with three wins and 447 points with William Byron right behind him with three wins and 400 points. Kyle Larson is holding down the third spot in the Playoff race with 2 wins and 486 points. Chase Elliott and Tyler Reddick are in the fourth and fifth spots with one win each. They have 437 points and 396 points respectively.

Kyle Larson is a three-time winner of this race and has won the Open two other times. He has done very well in exhibition races like this and dominated this event last year. I look for him to be at the top of the running with the potential of going back-to-back in this race.
