Now that NASCAR has visited Pocono Raceway, we head to the Brickyard this weekend for more action-packed racing. This race takes place at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and it will play host to Brickyard 400. It's been since 2020 that NASCAR drivers have competed on this infamous track and I'm sure I can speak for all of us and say that it's about time. Over the course of the last three seasons, the top division of NASCAR has only competed on the Grand Prix circuit in Indianapolis. That said, as part of a little shakeup in the schedule, the oval in Indy has been brought back to the schedule.

This track is a rectangle oval that has extremely flat banking all the way around the track. With 9 to 12 degrees of banking in the corners and completely flat straight aways, this track seems like it wouldn't be too challenging. However, it is very sensitive to the temperature and track conditions can change dramatically throughout the race. This is why it is important for teams to keep up with the changes in handling conditions throughout the entire race. There shouldn't be many tire issues this weekend as Goodyear has created a great tire for stock cars at this track. That said, long green flag runs can lead to issues in fuel management so that will be something to keep an eye on.

This might be the most unique track that NASCAR visits year in and year out. There are no other tracks on the circuit that even come close in comparison to the characteristics that this track holds. The track at Pocono might be the most similar track on the circuit, but still doesn't match up. The drivers that did well on the "Tricky Triangle" might have some luck this weekend when they visit the Hoosier state.

As Ryan Blaney returns to the site where he won his first NASCAR Cup Series race. He showed up last Sunday ready to go and to remind the other drivers that he is ready to try to reclaim another Cup Series championship. Blaney was able to fend off Denny Hamlin, who happens to be the track's all-time winningest driver, to earn his second win of the season. With this win, Blaney grabs the 5th spot in the championship standings. He is one of only five drivers with multiple wins in the season and it's primed him to be in a good position once the playoffs roll around.

As we sit, Kyle Larson is in the lead with 3 wins and 700 points. Holding down the second spot is Denny Hamlin with three wins and 683 points, while William Byron has the third spot with three wins and 646 points. Christopher Bell (616 points) and Ryan Blaney (627 points) are in 4th and 5th respectively.

While Denny Hamlin has never won in Indy, he still might be the driver best primed to take home the win this weekend. He led for 31 laps last weekend in Pocono and that is a similar track to what we'll see in Indianapolis. On intermediate and bigger ovals, Hamlin has fared well and has led for 230 laps, won the pole once and finished in the Top-10 on five different occasions. I like him going into this weekend.
