Here we are at the World's Fastest Half Mile for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. This race offers a lot of contact on a short track at night which makes it one of the most anticipated races of the season. It's been since race number five of the season since NASCAR has been to Thunder Valley, and in that time, it's been quite the grind. We've seen Brad Keselowski win a race after a drought. Tyler Reddick has won the regular season championship. Chris Buescher got back in the win column after last weekend's race at Watkins Glen. We've also been privy to seeing Harrison Burton surprise everyone with a win at Daytona. This just goes to show how much has happened since last time we were in Bristol.

This race will be different that races past in Bristol. This is no longer a regular season race like it used to be, but now is the first part of the Chase for the Cup playoffs. This is the cutoff to advance to the second round of the Chase and the third race in all. Just win or be below the cut line of points. Easy as that right? There will be a great deal of urgency as this is the last chance for some drivers to get into the next round. This 500-lap war will cause tensions to be high and the pressure to escalate. That said, it makes for an exciting race and I'm sure I speak for all the fans when I say that this is a much anticipated event.

This was quite a chaotic race and from the beginning, it was action-packed. RFK Racing's Chris Buescher was able to earn the win in overtime with duel in the last lap that was bumper to bumper to get ahead of Shane van Gisbergen. This was a big win for Buescher. It keeps him in the hunt for the trophy in addition to being his first road-course win at Watkins Glen International. Van Gisbergen had the lead in the restart for overtime, but was chased down by Buescher.

As we sit Christopher Bell is the points leader with 2,089 points thus far. He's got three wins on the season with 10 top-5 finishes and 10 stage wins. Austin Cindric is in 2nd with 2,086 points and a win on the season. Coming in at the third spot is Joey Logano with 2 wins. Finally, we've got Alex Bowman and Daniel Suarez coming in 4th and 5th with 2,084 points and 2,079 points respectively.
