This weekend marks the last race of the Round of 12 as four drivers will see their championship hopes go to the wayside. The race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend is the sixth race of 10 that will lead us to a champion. For this extremely important race, Charlotte Motor Speedway and NASCAR are giving us the sixth annual road course race at the oval in North Carolina. A half decade ago, the folks that own Charlette Motor Speedway had a 2.28 mile, 17 turn road course built that works in most of the 1.5-mile oval in addition to the twists and turns on the infield for what is called a "roval" course. This track is very much like the one that Daytona International Speedway uses for IMSA. This should be quite the change up to drivers this weekend as this new wrinkle will put drivers in an uncomfortable situation. Most drivers are far more comfortable with a true oval instead of a road course. This field of drivers has raced on this roval for the last five seasons, so that should help them with the familiarity factor. That said, it's still a big change from the weekly NASCAR track that the drivers are used to performing on. So, when you consider the unfamiliarity of the track in addition to its being a race where four drivers will be cut, the pressure on this one should be incredible.

Because of the newness of this track and the lack of historical data, there isn't a whole lot to go off of when trying to determine who might win this race. However, there are some similar races, and we can use the last five races here to try to make an educated guess. The reason why Chase Elliott is the favorite in this race is because he has an average finish of 8.0 and he's led for 94 laps. Keep an eye on him in this race.

This was a tight one and Ryan Blaney just happened to be on the receiving end of good fortune when you crossed the finish line ahead of Kevin Harvick by about a foot. He had a great push in the final 10 laps to secure his victory and his entrance into the next round. This was Blaney's third win at Talladega and kept his championship dreams alive with the win. In this race, he only led for eight laps, but happened to get his two final led laps at the right time and secured the win over Harvick, who was disqualified after the race for a violation of rules.

As we speak, William Byron is leading the pack with Ryan Blaney and Denny Hamlin right behind him. That said, we'll be watching a few other drivers who happen to be right around the cut line. They include Kyle Larson, Brand Keselowski, Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace. Tune in this weekend to find out how everything shakes out.

He leads the most laps out of all active drivers and will be looking to secure his spot going into the next round.
