Nashville Superspeedway will be the location where NASCAR returns to this weekend. This is a concrete track that features 13-degree banking in the turns on this 1.33-mile track. This race is divided into three stages for a total of 300 laps. The first stage of the race spans 90 laps, while the second and third stages go for 95 and 115 laps respectively. You can expect a fast race with a lot of side-by-side racing with the great grip that the concrete track gives. You might see speeds up to 160 mph. This also means that tire strategy will be at a premium in this race and could be the difference in who ends up winning. That said, this oval might remind drivers and teams of tracks like World Wide Technology Raceway and Kansas Speedway because it is an intermediate oval with lower banks while being smaller than most intermediate ovals on the NASCAR circuit. It's nice to be back in Nashville as there was a about a decade period where the track was closed.

Looking at this track, it is only the third race on it since it's been reopened which means there isn't as much data out there to make really qualified guesses on who might do well this weekend. Because of this, we need to look at drivers who have done well historically at intermediate ovals and some of them include Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain to name a few. This is also why you're going to see Kyle Larson as the favorite going into this weekend.

Martin Truex Jr. dominated the race this weekend after really having a hard time at Sonoma Raceway in the season debut for the Next Gen car. He led for a race high of 51 laps out of 110 and even had to overcome a caution flag that was not in a good place for him. It was his second win of the season where he joins William Byron, Kyle Busch and Kyle Larson with more than one win. It was also Truex's fourth win at this track, which is the most out of any active driver and only second all-time to Jeff Gordon who has five victories here.

Truex Jr. made the leap from the fifth spot to the third spot with his second win of the season and 525 points. William Byron is still the leader with three wins and 512 points while Kyle Busch sits in the second spot with three wins and 496 points on the season. In fourth place is Kyle Larson with 440 points and Ryan Blaney rounds out the top five with one win and 501 points. Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, Tyler Reddick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr are the only other drivers with a win for the season so that leaves some spots open if another driver is able to find themself in Victory Lane.

Larson was the winner at this event two years ago and he did it in dominant fashion. Of the 300 laps raced, he led 264 of them and won by over 4 seconds over Ross Chastain. That said, Larson was in dominant form that whole season, and while he hasn't been as good this season (which would take a lot) he's still raced well and that's why I like him to win the race this weekend.

Chicago has been hit or miss this season, but they will be up to play another divisional rival and we expect them to take this down to the wire as well.
