With a lot of rain this last weekend at Dover, there will be a bit of change coming up this weekend. This will be the third time this season that NASCAR has gone racing at an intermediate oval. This race debuted in 2012 and it will have been seven weeks since drivers raced on an intermediate oval. The event at Kansas Speedway will most likely not be a replay of when NASCAR was in Georgia, but it will be another fun weekend. Teams that did well when they raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway should be looking forward to visiting Kansas City this weekend.

With Atlanta offering drivers 28 degrees of banking in the corners, Kansas only gives 15 degrees of corner banking. Even with these differences, we should see a lot of the same drivers up towards the front of the pack this weekend fighting for a win. Another difference between the two tracks is that Atlanta has a much newer racing surface which means less wear and tear on the tires. That one difference in the two tracks can make a big difference in strategy for drivers and can be a wrinkle in the game plan that could completely change up who might win the race.

Ross Chastain was held off by Martin Truex Jr on Monday, leading Truex to pick up his fourth career win at Dover Motor Speedway and at the same time, ending his 54-race winless streak. The race was rain delayed and continued on Monday. This win was a long time coming for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. It was a big win for Truex who missed the playoffs last season going winless for the entirety of the campaign.

Truex finished in the top ten after the first stage of the race and then moved into the top five for the next stage of the race on Monday. He then held off Ross Chastain for the win in the final stage of the race. This was Joe Gibbs Racing second driver to win a race this season and they'll be well represented in the Playoffs. Truex will look to win this weekend where he has two past wins.

This win gives Truex Jr. a path to playoffs meaning that he and the team can take a bit of a breath for the time being. With the Playoffs ahead and this win in his pocket, Truex can now look ahead to Kansas Speedway. Eight of the 16 playoff spots have been filled with drivers that have won a race and the pressure will continue to increase on those that haven't visited Victory Lane yet. While it is early in the season and you wouldn't want to focus on the Playoffs too early, that is what most drivers are thinking of.

With the victory at Talladega, Kyle Busch put himself in second place with 290 points, right behind the leader in Kyle Larson who has 295 points on the young season. Third place is held by William Byron who also has two wins in the season with 245 points. Holding down the last two spots of the top five in this playoff race is Christopher Bell with 331 points and Tyler Reddick with 286 points. Seven drivers now have a win this season with plenty of space for other drivers to secure their spots in the hunt for the NASCAR Cup.
