Quaker State 400 Presented By Walmart

NASCAR heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, GA for the Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart on Sunday for the race and the next chance for a driver to make his way into the playoff picture. This will be the 116th NASCAR Cup Series race that has taken place in Hampton, GA and it was first opened in 1960 when Fireball Roberts won the inaugural race. This track is an oval track that spans 1.5 miles with 5 degrees of banking on the straightaway and 24 degrees in the turns.

This will be the first repeat track of the year with the first one going to William Byron in the spring of this year. Over the last 10 races here, five Chevrolets have won, and five Fords have won. This could be the tie breaker for now.

Kwik Trip 250 Presented by Jockey Made in America Recap

Tyler Reddick was able to outduel Chase Elliott for the win in a great battle featuring these two drivers in the Kwik Trip 250 at Road America. This was Reddick’s first win in the NASCAR Cup Series and in terms of first-time winners, Reddick was the fifth of the season. With this win, the Playoff bubble has gone down by one and drivers without a win are starting to get a little concerned about the prospect of making the field. There are seven races left before the Daytona cut off and there are currently 3 playoff spots left for points. The win for Reddick pushed Kevin Harvick below the Playoff cut line.

Chase Elliott was dominant in the first two stages; however, he wasn't able to capture the win on either stage because he chose to pit before the end of the stage to keep track position. Lap 44 of 62 was the final green flag pit stop and Reddick was barely beaten out of pit road by Elliott for the last green flag run. That said, Reddick never let Chase Elliott out of his focus, and it would eventually pay off. Elliott was tracked down by Reddick on Lap 46 and outbraked him going into Turn 5 to get back in front. He eventually crossed the finish line 3.304 seconds in front of Chase Elliott and a whopping 21.138 seconds ahead of Kyle Larson, who finished in the 3rd spot.

NASCAR Playoff Standings

Chase Elliott still sits in the top spot with two wins and 624 points on the season with Ross Chastain and Joey Logano in the next two spots. With the win for Reddick, there are only three spots left for drivers without a win and those three drivers (Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr and Christopher Bell) are clinging to their positions. Kevin Harvick was knocked out of the final playoff spot. That said, Blaney still has a chance to get the overall points championship by only trailing Elliott by 33 points, but he's only got eight races left to try to get that win, because he could very well be pushed out of the playoff picture.

This is not an easy one to pick as there are four drivers that are either 10-1 or 11-1. This track is basically a superspeedway at this point and that makes it hard to have a clear-cut favorite. That said, we're going with Ross Chastain this weekend.
