The Kwik Trip 250 Presented by Jockey Made in America will take place in Elkhart Lake, WI at Road America. This will be the third time that NASCAR has been on this road course since 1956, one year after the track opened. Last season, Chase Elliott won this race, and he is primed to do it again this season. This road course on asphalt has 14 turns over a 4-mile span and 14 turns. Over the time these drivers go 62 laps, they'll have driven for around 250 miles on the day.

This is the third road race of the season and will be an important one for many of the drivers in the field. Because of how close the playoff picture is, you'll be seeing a competitive race on this holiday weekend, and what better way to go into Independence Day than to have an incredible road race.

Ally 400 Recap

Last weekend showed race fans the kind of pressure that is mounting on the drivers this season. In a year full of one-time winners, the playoff picture is starting to look very crowded. There were many pit crews and drivers that made some interesting, to say the least, decisions coming up to the end of the race. One driver who had a tough time with his pit crew was Bubba Wallace. Wallace and pit crew chief, Bootie Barker. He had the fastest car in practice, but his car got out of sorts during qualifying and it put him into the 30th spot. He ended up finishing seventh by the end of the first stage and in the second stage he had a loose wheel. He was told to slow down and was hit in the process, so by the time Wallace got off pit road, he was already down a lap. Wallace and Barker had a heated conversation over the radio after that issue.

That said, Chase Elliott's day went much better than Wallace's. In a race where lightning was the cause of two delays, Elliott was the one that came out looking like grease lightning. There was a late caution that slowed down all the action, but Elliott stayed on the track and took the field to green with only four laps left in the race. In the end, Elliott pulled away from Kurt Busch and took the victory by a 0.551 second margin.

NASCAR Playoff Standings

Coming into the holiday weekend Chase Elliott jumped the drivers ahead of him with his second win of the season. He now sits in first place with 586 points. Ross Chastain is in second place with two wins and 556 points while Joey Logano, William Byron and Denny Hamlin round out the top five in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series standings.
