Dover Motor Speedway will be the stopping place for NASCAR this weekend as the DuraMAX Drydene 400 presented by Reladyne will be the next race on the schedule. After a captivating race in Talladega, teams must now focus on a different kind of track with a long history. "The Monster Mile" is a concrete oval with 9 degrees banking on the straightaways and 24 degrees in the corners.

Parity is something that Dover Motor Speedway offers that we haven't seen in the past few weeks. With 11 drivers with a rating over 90 on this track, it should be a competitive day out there. This will be a race about pit strategy, track position and avoiding wrecks which is unlike last week as it was more of a team race. While the NextGen cars have been giving teams and drivers trouble with tires and some engine issues, it has evened out the racing and the "young bucks" have been competing with the vets all season.

Geico 500 Recap

Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez of Trackhouse Racing Team, continued to race with purpose. Chastain was able to get his second career win using the same car that he used to get his first checkered flag. William Byron and Chastain are the only two drivers to win two races this year. Byron had a great day at Talladega with 38 leading laps while Chastain only led one, but it was the most important one. As predicted, Hendrick Motorsports was showing out until chaos struck towards the end of the race. Joey Logano was taken out in a multi-car crash which included Daniel Suarez, Ty Dillon and Harrison Burton.

With one lap remaining, Chastain was sitting in the third position behind Kyle Larson and Erik Jones. Kyle Larson made a move on the outside and Jones pulled in front of him to fend off the attempt. All this happened while Chastain kept a straight line and took the lead while the other two battled it out. Overall, it was a dramatic race as there were 41 lead changes for the day with 16 drivers being at the front of the pack.

When all was said and done, Ross Chastain walked away with his second win of the season and is poised to make a run in the playoffs.

NASCAR Playoff Standings

William Byron is still holding on to that top spot with 334 points and two wins on the season. Ross Chastain jumped up into the second spot after securing the victory in Talladega. He has 292 points on the season. In third place sits Kyle Busch (312 points) who finished third last weekend. Alex Bowman is in fourth place with 309 points while Kyle Larson sits in fifth with 299 points. Chase Elliott is the points leader so far this season with 368 points but has yet to get a victory. He's in the middle of the pack as we sit so, he's most likely happy to see someone win their second race of the season instead of adding a newcomer to the win column.

We like Kyle Larson in this one. His last three races at Dover equated to a win and two other top-5 finishes. His driver rating over the course of those races was 131.3. While Larson hasn't been as dominant this season in the NextGen cars, he's still a big favorite to take the flag this weekend.
