NASCAR is back under the lights this weekend for the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. This marks the second time this season that NASCAR has raced at Daytona. This race usually took place on the 4th of July, but the folks at NASCAR wanted to mix it up this year and move the race under the stars and make it the last race of the regular season. This is the last race to take a shot at making the playoffs for drivers and the pressure on drivers to get a win to bump themselves over the cut line should make for a really exciting night of racing.

This should be an extremely entertaining and dramatic race, unlike the Daytona 500. There are also going to be some trends now because there have been three superspeedway races this season with the NextGen cars. Because we've seen these new cars for the second time at Daytona, we should see the same kind of racing that made the Daytona 500 an exciting and competitive race.

Earlier this year in Talladega where they raced for 500 miles, there were 41 changes for the lead with 16 different drivers taking that top spot at one point. The Daytona 500 had 35 lead changes during the race, so we should expect a high number of drivers vying for the front of the pack in this race. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a lot of luck involved in these races. 13 drivers DNF'd at Talladega so it just goes to show you that anything can happen in this race. All that said, this might be one of the most fun races of the season with lots of drama and tempers flaring. We're looking forward to it.

It all came down to a final restart where Kyle Larson was able to get the upper hand on Chase Elliott, while edging out AJ Allmendinger for the win at Watkins Glen. On that restart, Larson made a fantastic pass on his teammate with just five laps to go on this road course. During that restart, Elliott was able to choose his restart position and chose to be on the outside of which made it an exciting finish. All in all, Larson was able to earn his second win of the season and put himself in a great position heading into the playoffs.

Chase Elliott sits at the top of the list having notched 4 wins with a total of 922 points. Kyle Larson has moved into the second spot with 2 wins and 788 points. Joey Logano (767 points), Ross Chastain (761 points) and Kevin Harvick (690 points) land in the next three spots respectively. Ryan Blaney holds on to the last playoff position without a win. With that spot up for grabs, there are a lot of drivers on the cusp that will be fighting for that win. Martin Truex Jr. seems to be the only driver that could make the cut with points.

It's tough to not pick an upset winner in this race, that said, Ryan Blaney is the pick because his record at Talladega and Daytona are tough to beat. He came extremely close to winning the Daytona 500 back in February and is the defending race winner in this one. I like Blaney in this race.
