NASCAR returns to Bristol, TN for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. This short, high contact track is one of the more popular races on the schedule and to make it even more fun, it's a night race. Since race number nine of the season when they were last in Bristol, lots has happened including Chase Elliott dominating the standings for most of the season. He has faced slight opposition from Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney, but for the most part, Elliott has been in control. In the first two races of the Chase, we've seen two non playoff drivers take the checkered flag. We've also seen Kevin Harvick win back-to-back races in Brooklyn, MI and Richmond, VA in addition to Daniel Suarez win in surprising fashion in at Sonoma.

This time, things will be different when NASCAR goes to Bristol Motor Speedway. This late summer race is no longer part of the schedule for the regular season, but instead it represents a step in the playoffs. This is the cutoff to the next round of the Playoffs and the third race of the playoff schedule. If drivers want to advance in the race, they'll need to win or be above the cut line of the top 12 drivers in the hunt. This will be an action packed race with a lot on the line. Tension will be high and there will be a lot of pressure on drivers, but this is where champions are made and if the driver can't hack it, he wasn't meant to hold that trophy over his head.

Hollywood Casino 400 Recap

This week's episode of 'Playoff Spoiler' stars Bubba Wallace. Driving the same car that took Kurt Busch to a win in May at Kansas Speedway, Wallace was able to grab the win with a great performance on Sunday. Wallace was able to grab the lead on Lap 225 after the final round of pitstops and was able to stay out in front for the final 43 laps as Denny Hamlin tried to track him down with no luck.

He was able to finish the race just one second ahead of Hamlin and it would be the second straight week that a driver that wasn't in the playoffs won a playoff race.

NASCAR Playoff Standings

Christopher Bell has grabbed the lead in the playoff race with 2,108 points. William Byron sits in the second spot with 2,098 points and Denny Hamlin is in third with 2,097 points. Rounding out the top five for the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Standings is Joey Logano with 2,090 points and Ryan Blaney with 2,086 points. This is the last race before the cut and drivers will need to be in the top-12 to move on. There are a number of drivers within striking distance

It was pretty stunning to see two drivers that were not in the playoffs win the last two races. Especially when you look at Bristol, this is a shocking thing that happened. We could also see another upset this weekend. That said, with the way Denny Hamlin has been racing and his history at this track, we like him to win this one.
