This weekend, NASCAR will be in Kansas City, Kansas for the AdventHealth 400. Kansas Speedway will get its first taste of the NextGen car, and it should be a fun one. This track began hosting races back in 2001 and this 1.5-mile track has 17 to 20 degrees of banking through the turns progressively. On the frontstretch, there is 9 to 11 degrees of banking, and the backstretch offers 5 degrees of banking.

There are a few more drivers that are now squeezing into the top of the NASCAR Cup standings as we head into the 13th race of the season. As we sit, William Byron is now predicted to finish just ahead of teammate Chase Elliott, who is 65 points ahead of Byron, in the Cup standings. Christopher Bell (10th place) and Ryan Blaney (3rd place) are the only two drivers at the top of the list without a win, and this is after watching the beginning of this season feature numerous winners. This could be a week where one of these drivers break out and get in the win column.

Goodyear 400 Recap

Joey Logano finally put his 40-race winless streak to rest after making a decisive move to hit and run on the second to last lap at Darlington. William Byron was on the other end of the "push" and on turn 3 on the white flag lap, Logano assisted Byron into the outside wall and ended up finishing in 13th. Logano was able to edge out Tyler Reddick by just 0.775 seconds to get his first win at Darlington and his 28th victory in his time racing. That makes 11 straight Cup Series in which Logano has a win.

Needless to say, William Byron was not pleased with how things went down in the end. Logano claims that what he did was retaliation to Byron spooking him and getting him tight on Turn 2, Lap 268. Byron, and many fans, are saying Logano went too far. Bryon claims Logano drove in there too fast and his him so hard that it took the right side of his car off. This wouldn't be the first time Logano has done something questionable like this. That said, Logano came out of this one victorious and locked himself into a playoff spot. The win would also ensure that that Chevrolet would not get the win, and this has been the case since 2014 when Kevin Harvick got the victory.

Justin Haley would finish in 3rd after starting the race in 29th, while Kevin Harvick and Chase Elliott would finish 4th and 5th respectively.

With the win, Joey Logano has positioned himself nicely as we get closer to the halfway point of the season. He now sits in 4th place and is behind William Byron with 388 points (2 wins), Ross Chastain with 364 points (2 wins) and Chase Elliott with 453 points. Kyle Busch is currently in the 5th spot with 364 points while Alex Bowman is 6th with 357 points. Rounding out the top-10 are Kyle Larson (336 points), Chase Briscoe (287 points), Austin Cindric (258 points) and Denny Hamlin with 231 points.

Kyle Larson won at Kansas the last time NASCAR was in Kansas, so it makes sense that he would be the favorite. That said, Chase Elliott has raced really well at Kansas over the last 5 races and has an average finish of 6.3.
