This weekend's race marks the first race of the Round of 12. The South Point 400 provides a level of uncertainty that tracks like the Charlotte Roval and Talladega offer. The pressure will be on as championship contenders look to put themselves in a good position to move on to the Round of 8. This track is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and is a 1.5-mile tri-oval track with an asphalt surface. It offers 9 degrees of banking in the front and backstretch, while the turns offer 20 degrees each. The inaugural race at this track took place back in 1998 with Mark Martin taking home the checkered flag for the first winner ever at this track.

Bass Pro Shops Night Race Results

Stage 1 started with Martin Truex Jr. leading the pack into the green. It wasn't long before Chase Elliott took the lead and held it through the competition caution. Kyle Larson was able to claim the lead with the help from lapped traffic and shortly after that, Denny Hamlin was able to do the same thing to Kyle Larson. Larson and Hamlin battled for the front of the pack until Bubba Wallace took Larson's line, allowing Hamlin to take the stage win.

Between the stages, Chase Elliott earned himself a speeding penalty in pit road which caused him to have to restart at the back. Kyle Larson got a jump on everyone and let the field for a while. This was until Brad Keselowski was able to close the distance. The 5 car made a small error which allowed Keselowski to take the lead. Hamlin was able to work his way back into the mix and eventually take the lead again.

The first caution came out when Ryan Newman tried to create a clearance that wasn't there. In the process of taking himself out, he also got Cole Custer and Daniel Suarez. This caution aided Aric Almirola because he already had an oil leak. There was another wreck after the restart involving Anthony Alfredo and B.J. McLeod. Kyle Larson would eventually come back and take the second stage.

Kevin Harvick stayed out of pit road during the stage break and started the next stage at the front. Ryan Blaney made a run at him but Harvick's car was better built for the long haul. Kyle Larson came back to reclaim the lead. Quin Houff caused 2 cautions in a span of 20 laps. This allowed everyone to make their final pit stop before the final run. There were some battles down the stretch, but Kyle Larson was able to get the win.

With the win, Kyle Larson marked his sixth of the season and a earned his spot in the next round. Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Michael McDowell and Tyler Reddick were eliminated from the Playoffs.

Kyle Larson won here in the spring and was incredible at a track like this in Kansas back in May. In his last six starts, Larson has finished in the top-3 five times. He's a favorite in this race for good reason. He's hot and we don't see that letting up this weekend.
