This week, the NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Loudon, NH to race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The first time this race took place was in 1993. Back then, the race was called the Slick 50 300. Before being named what it is today, this race went through different names like the New Hampshire 301, Lennox Industrial Tools 300, and the Jiffy Lube 300.

This race will span 318 miles and a total of 301 laps. The first stage will be 75 laps, 110 laps for stage 2 and the final stage is 116. Jeff Burton is the most successful driver for this race having won 3 times previously. That said, there are multiple drivers that can equal that 3 win total if they win this weekend including Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski and Denny Hamlin.

This race was all about the Busch brothers with Kurt Busch being the one coming out on top. The win secured his spot in the playoffs and was his 33rd career win. Kurt Busch has been historically good at Atlanta Motor Speedway with 4 wins, which leads the current list of drivers in wins. More importantly, this race solidified Busch's playoff position which was in question with only six races left for setting the field. While securing his playoff spot, he also tied Kyle Busch in the points standings.

Kurt Busch led for 144 out of 267 laps in last Sunday's race. This is the most amount of laps he's led since 2015 when he led 291 laps at Richmond. When the final pit stops cycled out, Kurt was sitting behind Kyle. That said, with about 25 laps to go Kurt was able to make a move and pass his brother Kyle. With 7 laps to go, Kyle pulled up right along side of his brother but was not able to pass him. He ended up finishing 1.237 seconds ahead of Kyle.

Martin Truex Jr. finished 3rd in this race after starting in 37th place. Alex Bowman of Hendrick Motorsports finished in 4th place followed by Penske Racing's Ryan Blaney. Rounding out the top ten were Tyler Reddick, Chase Elliott, Christopher Bell, Matt DiBenedetto and Brad Keselowski.

With the win, Kurt Busch punched his ticket to his ninth straight playoff birth and his eighth straight season with at least on victory. Prior to this race, Busch came into this one as the last driver provisionally in the playoff field. He now sits at 12th out of regular season race winners and has taken the lead on those still on the outside looking in. Now there are just 4 spots left for the playoffs. Currently, the drivers sitting in those last 4 spots are Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick respectively. With 4 spots up for grabs and 5 races left, it should be a fun finish to the regular season.
