Richmond Raceway will host the Federated Auto Parts 400 on Saturday in the 28th race so far this season. We're still in Round 1 of the Playoffs, with this being the 2nd race. The short track should make for some interesting racing, as it's often compared to the faster superspeedway tracks because of it's design. This will be a 300 mile race (400 laps) on the .75 mile track.

Stage 1 of this race will be 80 laps while the Stage 2 race will consist of 155 laps. The final stage will be 165 laps.

Cook Out Southern 500 Results

The NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs started off very good for Denny Hamlin, as he took the 72nd running of the Cook Out Southern 500 in Darlington. Stage 1 was rather eventful as Alex Bowman had electrical problems right away. Bowman then hit a wall early and was done for the race. Hamlin was able to hold on for the victory in Stage 1 as Chase Elliott and Michael McDowell experienced some trouble in pit road.

Stage 2 went to Kyle Larson, who was able to pass Hamlin right at the outset of the stage. William Byron, Kyle Busch, and Austin Dillon all had wrecks that ended their stages, and Hamlin was unable to come back to top Larson, who finished 1st.

The final stage had some drama at the end as Larson tried to catch Hamlin, but ultimately he was held off at the end and Denny Hamlin won this stage as well. Chase Elliott blew a tire on the final stage that ended his day, and Hamlin was the only driver to get an automatic advancement in the Playoffs.

NASCAR Cup Standings

Even though the regular season standings are set, Denny Hamlin is the only driver to advance past the 1st round of the Playoffs with his win last weekend. Hamlin will once again be one of the favorites in this race, along with Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. It's gut check time for these drivers to try and advance to the next round.

Even though Hamlin is an easy pick here, he won't be as motivated as the other drivers, meaning he may take less risks. After how Larson drove last weekend, going with him at +450 seems like the good bet.
