Race: Coca-Cola 600
Date: Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST
Location: Charlotte Motor Speedway
TV: FOX
Charlotte Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC is the location where NASCAR will be bringing the Coca-Cola 600. This is a 400-lap race which doesn't seem out of place; however, this race will be broken up into four stages versus the normal three stages we've been used to this season. Each stage will consist of 100 laps coming out to 400 in total.
In terms of the starting lineup, the starting position was usually predetermined by a formula which would take the place of qualifying. This event will have qualifying to determine the starting order.
EchoPark Texas Grand Prix Recap
NASCAR had its debut at Circuit of the Americas on a rainy Sunday. There were some big wrecks which caused some time under caution and we even saw a red flag for a short period.
Between the time drivers left pit road, most of them decided to switch to their slicks for the race. Tyler Reddick wen from first to fifth on the very first lap. In a short time, many teams decided to switch back to their wet tires and this meant there was a lot of movement in the first stage. After a couple accidents, Joey Logano would be the man to make it out of the first stage victorious.
Joey Logano led the field into green for Stage 2 and on the first green lap, Ryan Newman spun out. However, there was no caution flag, so the racing continued. It was a rough day for Christopher Bell, Kevin Harvick and Bubba Wallace who were all involved in a strange wreck that would end their days. The carnage wouldn't end there because on the first lap after that caution, Michael McDowell would hit the brakes too soon and Martin Truex Jr. would run into the back of him.
NASCAR would then make the call to switch to single file restarts for the rest of the race and Kyle Busch would eventually win the second stage.
The fuel milage game would start in Stage 3 with Chase Elliott and Kyle Busch being the first to hit pit road on lap 41. At the time, both were told it wouldn't be enough fuel to make it. Kyle Busch ended up pitting again to make sure he'd be able to finish the race and came back out alongside Austin Dillon and Kurt Busch. A caution was called soon because there was too much standing water on the track. They eventually called the race because of the race and named Chase Elliott the winner.
2021 Cup Series Standings Update
chase Elliott got his first win of the season which puts him safely into the playoff scene. Denny Hamlin is still the driver with the most points, no wins and he sits in the 12th spot. Drivers also looking for a win this season on the outside looking in include Kevin Harvick, Austin Dillon and Chris Buescher to name a few. Eleven spots have been finalized. The Coca-Cola 600 is another chance for a driver to get into the playoffs.

While Chase Elliott is up there as a favorite, we're going to avoid him this weekend. He just won last weekend and the last race in Charlotte. The last time a driver won consecutive times in Charlotte was in 2006. It's not likely. That said, favorites haven't done us any favors this season, so we're going with Ryan Blaney. Blaney hasn't raced well over his last couple races, but he has good recent history in Charlotte so it would be a great opportunity for him to get back into form.
Tony's Pick: Ryan Blaney - (+1600)
