The Charlotte Motor Speedway road course is where the final race of the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Playoffs will take place. In the NASCAR Cup Series, the 2021 Bank of America Roval 400 will be the seventh road race of the season in a season where NASCAR put a much bigger emphasis on road races. Racing at the Roval didn't happen until 2018, but Charlotte has hosted NASCAR since 1960.

This track runs 2.32 miles and has 17 turns. It combines an infield road course with the high banks of the traditional oval track.

This is a high-pressure race as 4 drivers will not move on to the next round. All that said, we're excited about this weekend, and it should be a good one in North Carolina.

YellaWood 500 Results

The first stage of the YellaWood 500 didn't begin until Monday as the skies opened up and rain made for a delay. Monday offered clear skies and Kevin Harvick started off hot and took the lead. Both Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. would get around him and lead a lap. As the competition caution came out on Lap 25, Cole Custer was sitting at the front.

Coming off pit road, Kevin Harvick would retake the lead. At lap 40, we saw Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski were fighting for the lead with Keselowski coming through on the high line. At the end of the stage, we saw an accident involving William Byron and Justin Allgaier. This would end Allgaier's day, and the stage would end under caution. Chris Buescher would take the first stage.

Coming off pit road to start the second stage, Kevin Harvick would once again come out hot, but would have to come right back as a lug nut hit a valve stem on his car. Joey Logano would take his spot at the front of the race. Soon after, Kyle Larson would blow a tire and he ended up thrashing the side of his car. This brought the caution out and everyone came in to fill up on gas with on lap to green. Unfortunately, the race got red flagged for rain once again.

The delay would last for 20 minutes, and drivers would head back out to the track. Leading the field back to green was Justin Haley. Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin would battle for the lead soon after with Bell being the winner in this battle. We then saw another wreck with Alex Bowman getting turned and taking Martin Truex Jr, Ross Chastain, Kyle Busch and Tyler Reddick with him.

After we got going again, Ryan Preece would wreck and take William Byron and Matt DiBenedetto with him. Then we saw the rain come back and as hard as NASCAR tried to get this going again, it was to no avail. Bubba Wallace would end up being the recipient of the win and got his first NASCAR Cup Series win.

This is the last race of the Round of 12, it should be a good one. Denny Hamlin is already locked into the Round of 8 after his win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will start in the pole position this weekend. Kyle Larson sits 22 points above the cut line right now with Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski and Martin Truex Jr just a few points behind. As we sit, Kevin Harvick, Christopher Bell, William Byron and Alex Bowman are on the outside looking in.

Chase Elliott is the favorite and for good reason. He is one of only few drivers that race really well on road courses. He has been very consistent, and it's served him well. He has an average finish of 2.67 with two wins and three top-10 finishes.
