Pocono Raceway is set to host the Pocono Organics 325 on Saturday on FOX. The track is 2.5 miles and is nicknamed "The Tricky Triangle" due to it having 3 turns. The track was designed in 1959 and is one of only 3 tracks not owned by Speedway Motorsports, Inc. or International Speedway Corporation. The banking on the turns is 14 degrees for turn 1, 9 degrees on turn 2, and 6 degrees on turn 3.

Geico 500 Results

Ryan Blaney was victorious in the Geico 500 on Sunday. Blaney, who started 12th, led for 63 laps and was able to accumulate 54 points toward the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. He edged out Ricky Stenhouse Jr. by .007 seconds in a wild finish with lots of contact between cars. It was Blaney's 2nd straight win at the track. He was able to knock Erik Jones into the wall near the end and won the race by only 12 inches. Stenhouse started in the 20th position and only led 5 laps, but he was able to garner 45 Cup Series points. Aric Almirola came in 3rd place after starting 15th with Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones rounding out the Top 5. Almirola was able to collect 34 Cup Series points with his 3rd place finish while Hamlin and Jones rounded up 33 and 32 points respectively. The race started with a solidarity moment when the drivers lined up behind Bubba Wallace after his team found an apparent noose in his garage before the race. The FBI has since deemed the noose was there since October, but the show of solidarity was a great moment for a sport known for supporting the confederate flag as recently as a few weeks ago.

2020 Cup Series Standings Update

Kevin Harvick continues to leads the points race after finishing 10th in the Geico 500. His 490 points are 23 points more than 2nd place Joey Logano, who finished a disappointing 17th even after leading 33 laps. Harvick now has ten Top 10 finishes this season, including 2 wins and six Top 5's. Logano also has 2 wins, but he has finished in the Top 5 on 3 occasions and in the Top ten 6 times. Blaney is now only 2 points out of 2nd place after his win at Talladega, which was his 1st win of the season. Blaney does has seven Top 5 finishes this year, showing his consistency is making him a true threat to win the Championship. Chase Elliot and Brad Keselowski are 4th and 5th in the overall standings. Elliot finished 38th in the Geico 500 after crashing, and he was only able to get 3 points toward the Series Championship. Keselowski finished 19th after starting 6th, but he did collect an admirable 29 points despite the disappointing finish. Harvick has led 544 laps this season, which is tops on the circuit. Logano isn't far behind with 513 laps led, but his average finished is 7 spots below his average starting position, which means he's been better at qualifying than during the race. Harvick, on the other hand, has an average starting position of 9.5 but he finishes 8.2 on average. Keselowski is the only other driver to have an average finish in the Top 10, finishing 9.7 on average.

Who will win this event at Pocono? Kyle Busch has yet to win a race this year, but this will be one his best chances. Chase Elliot is another driver to watch with longer shot odds, because he's going to be desperate after finishing poorly at Talladega, but I think Busch finally takes the checkered flag.
