The NASCAR circuit returns to New Hampshire on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. The track has hosted NASCAR events since 1990, and is nicknamed "The Magic Mile". It's an asphalt and gravel surface that has been a good track for Kevin Harvick (4 wins) and Jeff Gordon (16 Top 5's). Brad Keselowski has the top speed ever recorded at New Hampshire at 140 mph during qualifying in 2014. Jeff Burton holds the track record for top speed during the race at 117 mph in 1997.

Super Start Batteries 400 Results

Denny Hamlin won his 5th race of the season on Thursday in Kansas at the Super Start Batteries 400. Hamlin edged out Brad Keselowski to take over the top spot on the wins list for the year. Kevin Harvick, who has 4 wins to his credit, ended up finishing 4th after starting 1st. Martin Truex Jr. came in 3rd behind Keselowski after leading for 44 laps. Hamlin was able to garner 56 points toward the series standings, and now sits in 4th place overall just past the halfway point of the season. Toyota and Ford claimed the top 7 spots in Kansas, with Joe Gibbs finishing with 3 of the Top 5. Hamlin led for 57 laps and Keselowski was able to accumulate 51 points after leading for 30 laps. Kyle Busch, who finished 11th, led the race for 52 laps but faltered late. He was able to collect 42 points toward the Cup Championship, however. The only other driver to lead meaningful laps was William Byron, who led for 27 laps but finished 10th after starting 15th.

2020 Cup Series Standings Update

Kevin Harvick still leads the field after Kansas, as he was able to finish in the Top 5 once again. He now has 12 finishes in the Top 5 in 19 races. Hamlin, who is in 4th, has 10 Top 5 finishes this season. Harvick is 97 points ahead of Keselowski, who is also having an incredibly consistent season. He has 14 finishes in the Top 10 to go along with 7 finishes in the Top 5. Ryan Blaney, who only has 1 win this year, is 3rd in points mainly due to leading an impressive 512 laps this year. He also has nine Top 10 finishes with 7 finishes in the Top 5. Chase Elliot rounds out the Top 5 with 630 points (133 behind Harvick). He also has 1 win, 7 Top 5's, and 9 Top 10's. He's led for only 451 laps, so that is the reason he's behind Blaney, who has an almost identical season thus far to Elliot. Harvick has led the field for 700 laps, far outpacing Joey Logano, who with 587 laps led is 2nd in that category. Logano is 6th in the standings and has already qualified for the Playoffs with 2 wins, so he's somebody to watch as the season unfolds. He has 8 finishes in the Top 10 to go along with 4 in the Top 5. Harvick also leads the field in average finish (6.7) with Keselowski finishing 8.9 on average. They are the only 2 drivers to have average finishes in the Top 10 among the circuit. Hamlin is really close at 10.3, and if he keeps winning look for him to start to jump more drivers in the standings.

Who will win this event at New Hampshire? I think Denny Hamlin will win his 2nd straight race on Sunday. He's racing awfully well right now and as one of the favorites at this track it'll be hard to bet against him. Even though Harvick has 4 wins at the track and is the favorite, Hamlin has pulled out the most wins on the circuit so far this year and is really hot as of late.

I still do not trust Sam Donald to win consistently over the course of a 17 game regular season. Minnesota is not as good as their 8-2 record would indicate and playing outdoors in Chicago on Sunday will cause issues for them on both sides of the ball. Chicago has been hit or miss this season, but they will be up to play another divisional rival and we expect them to take this down to the wire as well.
