Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Picks, Odds, & Predictions 6/7/2020
Race: Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500
Date: Sunday, June 7, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST
Location: Atlanta Motor Speedway
TV: FOX
Atlanta Motor Speedway is set to host the rescheduled Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 on Sunday. The Speedway features include 24 degree turns with 5 degree banks on straightaways. It tends to be one of the fastest tracks on the circuit when the weather is nice, so look for speeds in the 190 mph range. The track opened in 1960 and underwent big renovations throughout the 90's when it was purchased by Speedway Motorsports. It's a 1.54 mile course and usually a favorite of most drivers due to no restrictor plate laws.
The NASCAR Cup Series standings tightened up a bit after Sunday, as the leader Kevin Harvick finished outside the Top 10 for the first time this season. He ended up finishing 11th, which still isn't bad considering he collected 39 points toward the Cup Series. Harvick now has 370 points on the season. He's led 391 of the 2,606 laps he's raced, and he's the only driver with an average finish in the Top 10 (6.0 average finish). Joey Logano had a catastrophic ending to the Food City 500, as he collided with Chase Elliot on the last lap and they finished 21st and 22nd respectively. Elliot ended up garnering 35 total points because he led 88 laps, while Logano had 29 points toward the Cup Series Championship. He led 2 laps. Logano now has 346 total points while Elliot is in 3rd place with 325 pts. Brad Keselowski is now in 4th place overall after his win at Bristol, where he accumulated 50 points after leading 115 laps. Keselowski now trails Harvick by 55 points in the overall standings, which is doable if he keeps winning.
Food City 500 Results
Keselowski was the beneficiary of the wreck between Logano and Elliot, but by leading 115 laps he put himself in position for the win as well. Clint Bowyer, who started in 23rd, ended up coming in 2nd place with Jimmie Johnson right behind him. Johnson also started near the back (24th), but both guys ran good races all day. Kyle Busch and Erik Jones rounded out the Top 5 at Bristol. Busch led 100 laps on the day, while Denny Hamlin (131 laps led) and Chase Elliot (88 laps led) were near the front most of the day. Hamlin ended up finishing 17th after starting 10th and Elliot finished 22nd after his collision with Logano. Bowyer was able to collect 40 points toward the Cup Series standings while Jimmie Johnson got 35 points. Johnson now has a 104 race losing streak, but he's showing signs of being able to snap it. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wrecked again after a nudge from Johnson, so his disappointing 2020 season continues after many thought he was back following his 4th place finish at the Coca-Cola 500.
Odds for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 are as follows:
Kevin Harvick +500
Kyle Busch +650
Chase Elliott +650
Alex Bowman +800
Brad Keselowski +900
Joey Logano +900
Martin Truex Jr +900
Denny Hamlin +1100
Ryan Blaney +1600
Who will win this event at Atlanta? I like Logano to bounce back after his disappointing finish at Bristol.
Josh's Pick: Take Joey Logano +900
