NASCAR returns to Charlotte on Sunday with the 3rd race in a week since they resumed racing. They are trying to jam as many races into the schedule as possible to make up for lost revenue from the Covid-19 hiatus. Charlotte Motor Speedway is one of the most iconic tracks in the NASCAR circuit, dating back 60 years. It's nickname is "America's Home for Racing" and it is 1.5 miles long. Normally the track seats 84,000, but for now it will be without fans like the rest of the sports world. Charlotte Motor Speedway was the first modern track to host night racing in 1992 as well as setting a Guinness World Record in 2011 for the biggest HDTV at a sporting venue (16,000 square feet).

When it comes to the NASCAR Cup Series standings, Kevin Harvick remains in the lead after 6 races with 258 total points. The Mobil One Ford now has finished in the Top 10 of all 6 races this season, the only driver to boast those results. He's finished in the Top 5 on 4 occasions, and he's won once. Harvick is averaging a 4.7 finishing position this year, and he's led 328 laps to this point. Joey Logano has taken the 2nd spot away from Alex Bowman. Logano has won twice this year, and he's finished in the Top 10 three times. He has 224 total points toward the Championship, and he's led 139 total laps to this point in the season. Logano averages a 10.7 finishing position, while his average starting position is 6.7, so he does tend to qualify well but drop back a few spots during the race. Toyota 500 Results

On a wet Wednesday evening at Darlington, Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag in a rain shortened Toyota 500. It was NASCAR's first Wednesday race since 1984, and it was called with 20 laps remaining. Hamlin started in 16th, so it was quite the win for the Joe Gibbs Toyota. He only led 12 laps total, but they came at the right time. Hamlin was also able to collect 47 points toward the Cup standings. His teammate Kyle Busch came in 2nd place after stating way back in 26th. Busch didn't lead any laps, but overall had to be extremely excited to pick up 35 Cup points after starting so far back. Kevin Harvick continued his dominant run this year by finishing 3rd. He's finished in the Top 10 in every race this season and has a clear hold on the Cup standings at this time. Harvick also made quite a jump, starting in 20th position. Brad Keselowski and Erik Jones rounded out the Top 5 at Darlington. There was some drama with Kyle Busch spinning out Chase Eliott with less than 30 laps to go, but Busch said after the race it was an accident. A little drama to look forward to on Sunday if they cross paths.
