New York continues to battle through a myriad of injuries throughout its roster to remain ranked fourth in the American League in pitching with a team ERA of 3.62, but it is ranked 12th in the AL hitting with a .245 team batting average. Robinson Cano remains the big bat with 40 RBI and 15 home runs. However, the Yankees as a team are averaging four runs a game, which is ranked 11th in the league.
Look for staff ace CC Sabathia to be on the mound for this series opener. Sabathia gave up two earned runs on eight hits in six innings against the A’s in early May, and he is now 8-9 with a 4.50 ERA against this team overall.
The Athletics continue to keep pace with Texas in what has become a two-team race for the division title. Its pitching has been steady all season long with a 3.74 team ERA that is ranked fifth in the AL. At the plate, Oakland has been equally as effective with an average of 4.65 runs a game that is also ranked fifth in the league. Josh Donaldson has already hammered in 42 RBI while hitting nine balls out of the park. This team has a total of seven players with 20 or more RBI on the year.
Bartolo Colon is set to get the start for the A’s on Tuesday night. The right-hander comes in with a 7-2 record that includes four straight wins in which his ERA is a ridiculous 0.90 over 30 innings of work. Overall, he has a 3.14 ERA and WHIP of 1.09 in 12 starts this year. Lifetime, Colon is 3-7 against New York with a 6.84 ERA.

Yankees at Athletics Picks and Betting Predictions
Both starters come into this matchup in solid form, so runs should be hard to come by through the better part of this game. In the end, bank on Oakland coming out on top as it chips away at the Yankees bullpen to grab the early edge in this series with the win.
