Wyoming Cowboys Free Football Picks Weekly Series Week 7 vs. SDSU
The Wyoming Cowboys had their bye week last week, so we return to our Mid-Major betting report in Week 7 where the Cowboys head Southwest for a showdown the San Diego State Aztecs.
If we just look at the conference standings, you can quickly see that this is a pivotal game in the conference standings as both of these teams sit just off the top spot. We know it's still early in the season, but conference games of this magnitude have a way of shaping the league for the weeks to come. Furthermore, a win would move one of these two teams closer to the important six-win mark and an automatic bowl game.

The goal of this weekly article is to help you understand the importance of specializing in one particular conference and/or on one particular team. I understand the fact that every bettor wants to be able to win their bets on the nationally televised games featuring ranked teams, but the truth of the matter is that those lines very rarely have any value left by the time you're able to bet them. Smaller conferences like the MWC may not have as many eyeballs on them as the Big Ten or SEC, but that helps us as bettors because the lines tend to be a little softer than the games featuring publicly backed teams.
Each week this article will take give you a small recap on how the team fared in their last game. You'd be surprised at how many times a team's win/loss outcome was either justified or lucky to happen. The box score may say one thing, but actually watching the game and seeing what's happening is a vital tool in handicapping. At the end of the article, I'll give you a free college football pick on the upcoming game. I'll be using the Doc's Sports Unit Betting System for every pick which will allow readers to follow along and track the results.
Last Game
Wyoming had a bye last week, which helped them get a bit healthier coming into this crucial and highly important game against San Diego State. Before to the bye, Wyoming finally flexed its offensive muscles and hung a 53-spot on a bad UNLV team. Now, the UNLV defense wouldn't get mistaken for the 85 Bears, but it was a good showing by the rushing attack, led by Titus Swen, as he had 136 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Sean Chambers ran the ball 12 times for 102 yards and two scores, while Xazavian Valladyay contributed 58 yards and two scores as well. That was the positive news. The negative was that the passing attack still struggled as Chambers completed only 5 of 12 passes for two touchdowns.
Week 7 at San Diego State
As of writing this, 5Dimes is the only site with a posted lined on this game. The current line is San Diego State -4 (-110), and the posted total is set at 38.5 (-110).
If I can piggyback off of the last game paragraph, I get the fact that the Cowboys were up by a large margin and wanted to ice the game by running the football. However, if you're Chambers, you have to at least complete 50 percent of your throws, which he didn't do. San Diego State has a great defense as is evident by their 11 points per game allowed. The quarterback play is going to need to be better if Wyoming has hopes of pulling off the upset.
The Aztecs come into this game winners in four of their last five and currently in second in the MWC West division. This game is going to go a long way in determining which team will be able to compete for the top seed in the division and ultimately a chance at a division title.
If we look at this game from a numbers perspective, San Diego State has the edge on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. It's going to take an enormous breakthrough performance from Chambers in the passing game for Wyoming to win this football game.
Series History: These two teams have met a whopping 37 times, and the series could not be more even. Wyoming holds a slight edge with 19 wins to San Diego State's 18, although the Aztecs did get the better of the Cowboys in their last meeting - a 27-24 win in Laramie in 2016.
Wyoming at San Diego State College Football Picks
Wyoming at home and Wyoming on the road are two completely different football teams. We've seen this team win four football games all in completely different fashions despite not having a passing attack to speak of. Now they finally come up against an excellent defensive team in San Diego State, and I believe the lack of passing attack is going to catch up to them in this game. San Diego State has played just two home games so far this season, with this being their third, and we feel that they will be up to the task and will win this game going away. The Aztecs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games played in Week 7.
Selection: 3-Unit Play. #206. Take San Diego State -4 (-110) over Wyoming (Saturday at 10:30 pm) - Record To Date: 0-2 -220.
