2015 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'
Rich Rodriguez has rebuilt his reputation out in the desert and has Arizona poised as a contender in the Pac-12 again this season. However, they will have to shake off a disappointing end to an excellent 2014; they were hammered in the Pac-12 Championship and their bowl game by a combined 89-43 score.
Rodriguez will have a returning starter at quarterback for the first time in his four years in Tucson. Anu Solomon was a revelation as a freshmen, and this year he'll try to avoid the sophomore slump. Nick Wilson (1,393 yards rushing) and Cayleb Jones (1,019 yards receiving) return as go-to guys in Rodriguez's high-flying offense.
The main thing working in Arizona's favor is its schedule. Yes, they have five league road games. But one is at nearby Arizona State, and two others are against weak sister Colorado and rebuilding Washington. All three are winnable. Add in a cupcake nonconference schedule and Arizona should be either 7-2 or 8-1 when they head to USC on Nov. 7.
Arizona has the same amount of returning starters this year as they did last (13). But this team is still pretty young (just six senior starters). I think that they will take a step backward this year in anticipation for a potentially big-time season in 2016. But that said, I think a better season win total for this team would've been 7.5 or 8.0. I think they will find their way to an 8-4 season and get 'over' this total.
