2014 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Over'
The Georgia Bulldogs were one of the biggest disappointments in college football last year, beginning the season as a consensus Top 5 team only to find themselves unranked by season's end. They bumbled to an 8-5 overall record that included a 24-19 bowl loss to Nebraska on New Year's Day.
This year the Bulldogs enter the season with a new quarterback trying to replace departed four-year starter Aaron Murray and a new defensive coordinator as Jeremy Pruitt replaces Todd Grantham. They do welcome back stud running back Todd Gurley as well as 10 defensive starters from last year's underachieving No. 45 ranked unit.
Georgia opens the season with a big revenge game at home against Clemson, which beat the Bulldogs in a thrilling opener last year in Death Valley. This year's game against Clemson begins a stretch of four of five home games for the Dawgs. Georgia also has winnable road games at Missouri (another revenge game), at Arkansas, and at Kentucky and I think they can take down at least two of those.
UGA ends the year with three straight home games, against Auburn, Charleston Southern and Georgia Tech.
With so many home games and winnable road games I think the Bulldogs have the perfect schedule for a big season. Of course, it seems like people say that about Georgia every year and they are perpetually one of the most overrated teams in college football. Regardless, I can't see this team losing more than three games. Clemson, South Carolina, Missouri, Florida and Auburn are their toughest contests and only one of those games is a true road tilt. Even if UGA loses three of those five games that would still give them nine wins on the season.
Take Georgia 'over' 8.5 wins.
