2014 Season Win Total Prediction: 'Under'
This is another one of those lines that I feel is dead on. If we had another half of a win on this posted total I would really like the 'under' but I feel as if the Eagles are going to win two games for the second consecutive season. Eastern Michigan has been one of the worst teams in college football over the course of the last few seasons and I see that continuing in 2014.
The one bright spot on the Eastern Michigan offense is running back Bronson Hill. Hill rushed for over 1100 yards and averaged over five yards a carry. The only thing is, new coach Chris Creighton does not want to run the ball as much as the Eagles did in the past. Now that many not be a terrible thing as the Eagles return many of their wide outs, but this squad only won two games, so take that for what it is worth. The Eagles do have experience on the offensive line, which is always a positive, and this team will need it if they want to stay out of the cellar in the MAC-West.
Bad, just bad, is how you describe the Eastern Michigan defense last season. They gave up an average of over 510 yards and 45 points per game in 2013. This bad defense is what lead to the Eagles hiring their new head coach. Creighton feels that his defensive line is the best facet of their defense, but he has to say something positive. Sorry brah, your team is pathetic.
It's bad enough that the Eagles are one of the worst teams in football, but they also have to go on the road for five of their first seven games, including trips to Florida and Michigan State. The Saturday, October 18th game at UMASS, and the Saturday, November 5th game at Western Michigan will be battles for worst team in the MAC.
