2014 Season Win Total Picks NCAA Football: 'Under'

The Eagles quietly had a strong 2013 campaign, turning things around after a precipitous drop in 2011 and 2012 that saw them go just 6-18. Boston College went 7-6 and worked its way back to a bowl game, setting some positive momentum in place under coach Steve Addazio.

Addazio benefitted from one of the most experienced rosters in the nation last year. Now B.C. is back to rebuilding, and they have to replace eight starters on offense. The back seven of the defense is intact. But the Eagles were No. 111 in pass defense last year, so I'm not sure how positive that development is.

The Eagles have a favorable schedule. They only leave the state of Massachusetts twice before November, and four of their first five games of the year are at home. USC will likely hammer them on Sept. 13. But four other early season games are each winnable.

Boston College better make hay early, because the back half of the schedule is ridiculous. If they can't win at Wake Forest on Oct. 25 there is a chance the Eagles could get blanked in the second half of the season.

I think the Eagles will top out at five wins this season. They aren't as strong as they were last year, and their margin of error is tiny. I have to play this one 'under'.
