The solid passing attack of the West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) will go up against the struggling defense of the Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-3) on Saturday afternoon. Texas Tech won this matchup 37-27 last season.
Last Saturday, West Virginia picked up its first Big 12 win of the year by defeating Kansas 33-14 at home. They had 557 total yards in that big win and they were able to hold Kansas to just 176 yards.
The Mountaineers have been able to score 36.6 points per game so far this year. Senior wide receiver Kevin White has 48 receptions with four touchdowns this year and he is currently tops in the nation in receiving yards with 765. Quarterback Clint Trickett has thrown for 1,902 yards through five games for 10 touchdowns and four picks.
After a good start to the year, Texas Tech has now lost three games in a row after losing to Kansas State 45-13 last weekend. Their defense gave up 535 total yards in that loss, including 245 yards on the ground.
Through their first five games, the Red Raiders have averaged 335.4 passing yards per game, which is 11th-best in the country. Sophomore quarterback Davis Webb has completed 62.2 percent of his passes this season for 1,603 yards with 16 touchdowns, but he's also already thrown 10 interceptions. Wide receiver Bradley Marquez has caught 30 passes for 382 yards and six touchdowns.
