The Wagner Seahawks will look to move to 2-0 for the first time since 2006 when they take on the Florida International Golden Panthers on Saturday night.
Wagner opened up their season last weekend with a comfortable 21-3 win over Georgetown on the road. Wagner didn't have the best offensive game, but their defense was very impressive by holding the Hoyas to just 204 total yards, including just 19 yards on the ground.
The best player for the Seahawks in their opener was running back Otis Wright, who had 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the win. Senior quarterback Brian Gehring completed 13 of his 19 passes for 163 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
Florida International played in a defensive battle against Bethune-Cookman in their opening game and ended up losing 14-12. They scored their first touchdown with five minutes left in the fourth quarter, but they were stopped on their final drive to end the game. FIU only had 186 total yards in the loss, but they also held Bethune-Cookman to just 239 yards. Neither team had a turnover in the game.
Quarterback Alex McGough completed 13 of his 27 pass attempts for the Golden Panthers with one touchdown pass. Their most impressive contributions came from special teams, with Richard Leonard returning his only kick return 54 yards he had five punt returns for 148 total yards.
