On Friday afternoon, the Virginia Cavaliers (5-6) will be playing their final regular season game of the year when they take on the Virginia Tech Hokies (5-6). The Hokies defeated the Cavaliers 16-6 on the road last season.

In their game against Miami last Saturday, Virginia was able to snap their four-game losing streak by coming away with a 30-13 upset win. Their defense held Miami to just 64 rushing yards and they were able to force two turnovers.

The Cavaliers are only giving up 24.1 points per game this year, but their offense has only been able to score 26.4 points per game. Running back Kevin Parks has rushed for 675 yards this season with four touchdowns. Wide receiver Canaan Severin has caught 38 passes for 496 yards and a team-high five touchdowns.

This past weekend, Virginia Tech lost 6-3 in double overtime to Wake Forest on the road. In that defensive battle, the Hokies turned the ball over three times and only converted three out of their 15 third down opportunities.

The Hokies have struggled on offense this season, but their defense has been great by only allowing opponents to score 20.5 points per game against them. Quarterback Michael Brewer has had an up-and-down season, throwing for 2,363 yards with 15 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. Wide receiver Isaiah Ford has caught a team-high 50 passes for 607 yards and six scores.
