Saturday afternoon, the Virginia Tech Hokies will visit the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
The Virginia Tech Hokies scored a major upset as they squeaked past the Duke Blue Devils 17 – 16 last week. Duke had the advantage early on as they raced to a 10 -0 lead in the 1st quarter. But that’s when the Hokies’ defense got them back in the game. The defense help set up the offense’s first score in the 2nd quarter to make it a 10 -7 game. The defense also held Duke to 2 field goals in the 3rd quarter and got an turnover that led to the field goal that cut it to 16 – 10. One last Duke turnover put Virginia Tech in position to score the go-ahead touchdown in the 4th quarter. Expect the defense to have another big game against a dreadful Wake Forest offense.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons took a 42 - 13 beating at the hands of the North Carolina St. Wolfpack last week. NC State opened the scoring in the 1st quarter with a touchdown and Wake Forest answered with a field goal to make it a 7 - 3 game entering the 2nd quarter. That would be as close as the game would be the rest of the way as the Wolfpack encountered very little resistance from the Demon Deacons. NC State scored 21 straight points before Wake Forest scored another field goal. The Wolfpack added 14 more points before the Demon Deacons scored a TD to end the game. Without any offensive production, Wake Forest will have a hard time getting past Virginia Tech.
