On Saturday afternoon, the #14 USC Trojans will hope that their dominant passing game can get past the dominant defense of the #13 Stanford Cardinal. USC won this matchup last season 20-17 on the road.

Last Saturday, USC put up 701 yards against Fresno State and eased their way to a 52-13 opening game win. USC had already scored three touchdowns and one field goal by the time Fresno State got on the board, and their defense only ended up giving up one touchdown per half.

Trojans quarterback Cody Kessler was fantastic in the opener by throwing for 394 yards and four touchdown passes, as well as 28 yards on the ground and another score. Running back Javorius Allen carried the ball 22 times in the game for 133 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver JuJu Smith caught four passes in the win for 123 yards.

Stanford opened their season against UC Davis last weekend and were able to do what they were expected to do by beating them 45-0. The Cardinal kept UC Davis on their side of the field the entire game and ended up holding them to just 115 yards.

Stanford's star quarterback Kevin Hogan completed 12 of his 16 passes for 204 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the win. Wide receiver Ty Montgomery had five catches for the Cardinal for 77 yards and one score.
