The UAB Blazers (5-6) will be attempting to snap their long losing streak on Saturday afternoon when they face off against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (3-8). Southern Miss was able to rout the Golden Eagles by the score of 62-27 last season.

UAB has now lost four out of their last five games after taking a 23-18 loss to Marshall last weekend. Their defense allowed Marshall to gain 515 yards against them, including 231 yards on the ground alone.

The Blazers have played pretty well on the offensive side of the ball this season, but their defense has given up over 30 points per game. Running back Jordan Howard has averaged 4.9 yards per carry this year and has 1,325 yards with 12 touchdowns. Junior quarterback Cody Clements has completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 2,051 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Southern Miss lost their fourth game in a row last Thursday when UTSA beat them 12-10 on the road. In that loss, the Golden Eagles had three turnovers and were only able to rush for 57 yards against UTSA's defense.

Southern Miss has had one of the worst scoring offenses in that country this year, averaging just 18.5 points per game. Wide receiver Michael Thomas has been their best offensive player by catching 39 passes for 580 yards and a team-high five touchdowns.
