Saturday afternoon, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will face the Iowa State Cyclones. 

The Texas Tech Red Raiders were on the verge of a major upset in their last game against the Oklahoma Sooners but they couldn’t hold on and lost 42 - 30.  The Red Raiders defense factored into the game early on and got 3 interceptions that helped them take a 14 -7 lead at the half.  A touchdown early in the 3rd quarter made it a 21 - 7 game and an upset seemed inevitable. But the Sooners eliminated the mistakes and targeted the weak Texas Tech run defense to mount the comeback that would win them the game.  Texas Tech was down by just 3 to start the 4th but Oklahoma added 3 touchdowns to seal the win. The Red Raiders defense won’t face a high powered Iowa State offense but the defense will have to play better in this one.

The Iowa State Cyclones were no match for the Kansas Jayhawks in their last game two weeks ago and they suffered a humiliating 34 -14 loss.  Kansas faced little resistance from Iowa State early on and they scored 24 straight points by the end of the 2nd quarter.  Iowa State scored at the end of the 2nd quarter to make it 24 – 7 and opened the 3rd with a touchdown to make it a 10 point game.  But Kansas added 10 points to close the game and seal the win.  Iowa State will need an offensive and defensive effort the likes of which we haven’t seen from them this season to even have a chance of coming away with a win over Texas Tech.
