On Saturday afternoon, the Temple Owls (5-4) will be facing the Penn State Nittany Lions (5-4) in a battle between two of the best defenses in the country. Temple currently sits in sixth place in the American standings, while Penn State is fifth in the Big Ten East.

Last Friday, Temple had a hard time moving the ball against Memphis' defense and ended up losing 16-13. They had just 82 rushing yards in that loss and they only converted five of their 17 third down opportunities.

Temple's offense hasn't been very good this season, but their defense has been superb by only giving up 18.1 points per game. Their biggest threat has been wide receiver Jalen Fitzpatrick, who has caught 37 passes this season for 512 yards and five touchdowns. Running back Kenneth Harper has rushed for just 263 yards this year, but he does have five touchdowns.

Penn State snapped their four-game losing streak last Saturday by defeating Indiana 13-7 on the road. They were able to hold Indiana's offense to just 68 passing yards and 221 total yards in that win.

The Nittany Lions have only been able to score 20.3 points per game this year, but their defense has done well to only give up 16.6 points per game. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg has thrown for 2,206 yards and seven touchdowns, but he has also thrown 12 interceptions already. Running back Bill Belton has rushed for 417 yards through nine games and has five touchdowns.
