The Connecticut Huskies will attempt to win their first game of the season when they face the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday afternoon.
Connecticut could not handle an impressive BYU team in their opening game of the season and were beaten 35-10 at home. BYU moved the ball at will in the game against the Connecticut defense and gained 513 total yards on the night. UConn had 15 penalties for 150 yards in the loss and they turned the ball over twice.
The Huskies' top player in that game was wide receiver Geremy Davis, who had seven receptions for 96 yards. Starting quarterback Casey Cochran was 17-for-31 passing for 171 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Connecticut's longest rushing play in the game went for just eight yards.
Stony Brook were expected to beat Bryant in their opening matchup, but they could only score once in the game and ended up losing 13-7. The Seawolves were only able to gain a total of 186 yards in the loss while Bryant gained 233. Stony Brook's biggest problem in the game was that their drives kept on stalling, converting just two of their 16 third down attempts.
The one player on the Seawolves who had a good game was running back Stacey Bedell, who rushed for 116 yards on 27 carries. Wide receiver Adrian Coxson had two catches for 77 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown.
