Washington (4-0) has been impressive early on in the season rattling off four straight wins to begin the year. They'll look to earn their signature win and start getting national attention when Stanford (2-1) comes to Husky Stadium. The Cardinal have allowed only 10 points total on the season and need to avoid looking ahead towards next week game in South Bend to earn this valuable Pac-12 road win.
The Cardinal go on the road for the first time in 2014 with a stinging taste likely still lingering after the 13-10 loss to USC on September 6th. The 13 points scored by the Trojans were the only ones allowed by Stanford this season, posting a 45-0 shutout of UC Davis and a 35-0 whipping of Army to their credit. The key for USC was being able to run the ball, posting the 2nd highest individual total against any of David Shaw's team with 154 yards from Javorius Allen. Washington has the horses that can emulate that with Lavon Coleman (286 yards) and Dwayne Washington (187 yards) who power the Huskies' 28th ranked rushing attack.
Although he's not asked to do so very often, Washington QB Cyler Miles can make the big play through the air if needed. The sophomore has yet to throw for over 200 yards in a game, but has tossed 5 TD and more importantly 0 INT. A big game from Miles will likely be needed if Stanford QB Kevin Hogan lights up the Huskie secondary. The Senior Cardinal QB has thrown for 705 yards with 7TD and 1 INT and is facing a UW defense that 291.5 YPG, 11th worst in the nation.
Stanford is favored on the road by about a TD but Washington has the horses to stick with the #16 team in the nation. If the Huskie defense can answer the bell UW fans may have a big reason to celebrate Saturday night.
