In the St. Petersburg Bowl on December 26, the NC State Wolfpack (7-5) will be facing the UCF Knights (9-3), who finished their regular season on a four-game winning streak. NC State ended up in fifth place in the ACC Atlantic standings, while UCF was second in the American standings.

NC State comes into this bowl game on a two-game winning streak after beating North Carolina 35-7 on the road in their last game. They had 454 yards of offense in that win and they didn't commit any turnovers.

UCF continued their solid second half to the season when they were able to defeat East Carolina 32-30 earlier this month. They scored 21 fourth-quarter points in that win, including a 51-yard touchdown pass as time expired.

Through 12 games, the Knights are eighth in the country in points against by only allowing their opponents to score 17.9 points per game against them. Sophomore quarterback Justin Holman has completed 59 percent of his passes this season for 2,661 yards, 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Running back William Stanback has rushed for 659 yards and a team-high 10 touchdowns.
