On Saturday night, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (2-4) will visit the North Texas Mean Green (2-4) in a game between two teams currently tied for fifth place in the Conference USA West. North Texas was able to win this matchup 55-14 on the road last year.

Southern Miss lost its second game in a row last week when they went on the road and lost to Middle Tennessee by the score of 37-31. Southern Miss did have 426 passing yards in that game, but their defense also gave up 583 yards.

The Golden Eagles are one of the worst rushing teams in the country right now with just 91 rushing yards per game. Quarterback Nick Mullens has 1,604 passing yards this season with eight touchdowns and six interceptions. Junior wide receiver Michael Thomas has caught 21 passes for 294 yards and three scores.

North Texas turned the ball over five times in their game against UAB over the weekend and they ended up getting blown out 56-21 on the road. Those turnovers really hurt them considering that they were able to gain 451 yards in the game.

The Mean Green have struggled to pass the ball this season, averaging just 166 passing yards per game. Running back Antoinne Jimmerson has rushed for 328 yards with three touchdowns this year and is averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Junior wide receiver Carlos Harris has caught 27 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns.
