On Saturday night, the Southern Miss Golden Eagles will be hoping to pull off one of the biggest upsets in their history when they face the #3 Alabama Crimson Tide.

Southern Miss was able to pick up its first win of the season last Saturday by beating Alcorn State 26-20 at home. The Golden Eagles held Alcorn State to just 98 passing yards in the game and forced them into committing four turnovers. Southern Miss has only been able to rush for 139 yards per game this season, which is 91st in the country.

Golden Eagles wide receiver Casey Martin has 11 catches in two games for 95 yards, while sophomore receiver Marquise Ricard has four receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown. Quarterback Nick Mullens has completed just 54.7 percent of his passes for 420 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Alabama scored 21 first-half points against Florida Atlantic at home and finished with a 41-0 win. The Crimson Tide had a balanced attack in that game, passing for 430 yards and rushing for 190. They have averaged 340 passing yards through two games, which is 17th-best in the nation.

Alabama's junior wide receiver Amari Cooper already has 25 receptions this season for 319 yards and one touchdown. Star running back T.J. Yeldon has rushed for 169 yards and two scores on 30 carries.
