On Saturday, the San Jose State Spartans (2-3) will face the Wyoming Cowboys (3-3) in a game between two teams with struggling offenses. The Spartans beat the Cowboys 51-44 at home last season.
Last week, San Jose State was able to snap its three-game losing by beating UNLV 33-10 at home. They had 542 yards of offense in that win while only giving up 221 yards to UNLV.
The Spartans are rushing for just 146 yards per game this season and they are only averaging 21 points per game. Their top offensive player has been wide receiver Tyler Winston, who has caught 35 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Joe Gray has thrown for 608 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
On Sunday, Wyoming lost their second game in a row on Sunday when they were defeated 38-28 by Hawaii on the road. Wyoming's defense was able to force three turnovers in that game, but they also gave up 513 yards.
Wyoming has only been able to score 18.3 points per game this year, which is one of the worst scoring rates in the country. One player who has played well for them is running back Shaun Wick, who has 610 rushing yards with four touchdowns and he is averaging 6.4 yards per carry. Quarterback Colby Kirkegaard has 1,228 passing yards this season with seven touchdowns and six interceptions.
