The Rice Owls (6-3) will have a hard time picking up their seventh consecutive win on Saturday afternoon as they will be playing the #21 Marshall Thundering Herd (9-0). In 2013, the Owls were able to defeat the Thundering Herd 41-24 at home.

Last Saturday, Rice picked up their fourth conference win when they beat UTSA 17-7 on their home field. They had 407 yards of offense in that win, including 207 yards on the ground.

The Owls have scored 29.8 points per game this season while giving up 26 points per game. Quarterback Driphus Jackson has had a solid season by throwing for 1,861 yards with 15 touchdowns and just four picks. Running back Darik Dillard has rushed for 575 yards with seven touchdowns this season.

Marshall kept their perfect record intact last Saturday when they blew out Southern Mississippi 63-17 on the road. They were able to rush for 335 yards in that win, while their defense held Southern Mississippi to 114 passing yards and forced three turnovers.

Through nine games, the Thundering Herd are the second-highest scoring team in the country by averaging 47.8 points per game. Quarterback Rakeem Cato may be the most underrated player in the country as he has been able to throw for 2,316 yards with 22 touchdowns, and he has rushed for 347 yards and six more touchdowns.
