On December 26, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-5) will be taking on the potent passing attack of the North Carolina Tar Heels (6-6) in the Quick Lane Bowl. These two schools last met back in 2011, when the Scarlet Knights pulled off a 24-22 win in North Carolina.

Rutgers were able to end their up-and-down regular season with a 41-38 win over Maryland three weeks ago. They were 8-for-14 on their third down opportunities and ended up with 491 total yards of offense.

The Scarlet Knights have had a pretty good offense this year, but their defense has allowed opposing offenses to score nearly 31 points per game against them. Their best player has been wide receiver Leonte Carroo, who has caught 53 passes for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. Senior quarterback Gary Nova has 2,667 passing yards on the year with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

In their last game, North Carolina had one of their worst performances of the year when NC State came into town and blew them out 35-7. The Tar Heels only had 207 total yards in that loss, including just 30 yards on the ground.

Through 12 games this season, the Tar Heels are one of the top passing teams in the nation by averaging 279.3 passing yards per game. Quarterback Marquise Williams has 2,870 passing yards, 737 rushing yards and 32 total touchdowns this season.
