On Saturday night, the Purdue Boilermakers will hope that they can break down one of the better defenses in the country when they face the #11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Fighting Irish beat the Boilermakers 31-24 last year on the road.

Purdue may have been the favorites in their game against Central Michigan last Saturday, but Central Michigan looked like the better team from beginning to end and beat them 38-17. The Boilermakers rushed for just 122 yards in the loss and turned the ball over three times. They have given up 36 points per game through two games, which ranks them 110th in the country.

Purdue's top contributor this season has been running back Raheem Mostert, who has 199 yards and one touchdown on 41 carries. Quarterback Danny Etling has completed just 51.4 percent of his passes for 307 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Notre Dame became the first team since 1984 to shut out Michigan by beating them 31-0 last Saturday. The Fighting Irish's offense may not have been as solid as it was in their first game, but their defense more than made up for it by forcing four Michigan turnovers.

Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson has put himself in the Heisman talk by throwing for 521 yards with five touchdowns, while also rushing for three more scores. Sophomore wide receiver William Fuller has 13 catches this season for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
