On Saturday afternoon, the Penn State Nittany Lions (6-4) will be going for their third straight win when they visit the Illinois Fighting Illini (4-6). Last season, Penn State was able to beat the Fighting Illini 24-17 in overtime.

Penn State had a slow start to their game against Temple last Saturday, but they scored 24 points in the second half to pull off a 30-13 home win. Their defense was excellent in that win, holding Temple to just 248 total yards and forcing five turnovers.

The Nittany Lions have had one of the best defenses in the country this season by only giving up 16.2 points per game. Their best offensive player has been running back Bill Belton, who has 509 rushing yards this season with a team-high six touchdowns. Quarterback Christian Hackenberg has 2,318 passing yards with seven touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Last Saturday, Illinois lost their second consecutive game when they were beaten 40-14 at home by Iowa. They were only able to gain 235 total yards in that loss, including just 88 yards on the ground.

Through 10 games, the Fighting Illini have one of the worst rushing teams in the country by averaging just 104.6 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Wes Lunt has completed 65.3 percent of his passes this year for 1,617 yards, 14 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
