The #7 Mississippi State Bulldogs (11-2) will be hoping to shake off their recent struggles when they face the #12 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (11-2) in the Orange Bowl on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs finished the season in second place in the SEC West, while the Yellow Jackets were first in the ACC Coastal standings.

Mississippi State played in-state rival Ole Miss in their final regular season game and were defeated 31-17 on the road. Their offense did play pretty well in that game, but their defense allowed Ole Miss to gain 532 yards against them.

During the regular season, the Bulldogs were ninth in the country in points allowed by giving up just 19.4 points per game. Quarterback Dak Prescott has thrown for 2,996 yards with 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and he has also rushed for 939 yards with a team-high 13 rushing touchdowns.

In the ACC title game, Georgia Tech gave up 28 first-half points to Florida State and were edged 37-35. They lost that game despite gaining 465 yards of offense and converting on five of their 10 third down chances.

The Yellow Jackets are third in the country in rushing this year by averaging 333.6 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback Justin Thomas has thrown for 1,594 yards, rushing for 965 yards and accounted for 22 of the team's touchdowns.
