On Saturday night, the North Texas Mean Green (3-6) will be playing the Texas-El Paso Miners (5-4) in a game between two teams that give up over 30 points per game. Last season, North Texas easily beat UTEP 41-7 at home.

Last weekend, North Texas snapped their four-game losing streak by beating Florida Atlantic 31-10 at home. In that game, Their defense forced two turnovers and held Florida Atlantic to just 197 total yards.

The Mean Green have had a tough time throwing the ball this season, averaging just 175.6 passing yards per game. Running back Antoinne Jimmerson has had a good season by rushing for 535 yards with five touchdowns. Wide receiver Carlos Harris has caught 51 passes for 664 yards and three scores, while fellow receiver Marcus Smith has caught nine passes for 147 yards and a team-high four touchdown receptions.

UTEP had their three-game winning streak come to an end last Saturday when they lost 35-27 to Western Kentucky on the road. The Miners outgained Western Kentucky 394-359 in that game and finished with 236 rushing yards.

Through nine games, the Miners have struggled on defense and have given up 30.6 points per game. Quarterback Jameill Showers has thrown for 1,330 yards this season with 11 touchdowns and just five picks. Running back Aaron Jones is averaging 5.4 yards per carry and has 886 yards with eight touchdowns.
