On Saturday afternoon, the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-5) and the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (8-4) will face each other in the New Orleans Bowl in a game between two solid rushing teams. The Wolf Pack finished the year third in the MWC West, while the Ragin' Cajuns ended up second in the Sun Belt.
In their final game of the regular season, Nevada scored 35 second-half points to defeat UNLV 49-27 on the road. The Wolf Pack moved the ball with ease on the ground in that win, finishing with 408 rushing yards.
Nevada didn't have a very good passing game this season, but they did rush for 215.2 yards per game. Quarterback Cody Fajardo has had a great year by throwing for 2,374 yards with 18 touchdown passes, and rushing for 997 yards with a team-high 13 touchdowns.
Louisiana-Lafayette ended their regular season by winning seven of their final eight games and beating Troy 42-23 in the last game. Against Troy, they ended up with 486 total yards and went 9-for-13 on their third down opportunities.
In their 12 games this season, the Ragin' Cajuns threw for just 188.9 yards per game, but they were still able to score 30.6 points per game. Their top offensive player this season has been running back Elijah McGuire, who has 1,165 rushing yards with 14 touchdowns and has averaged nearly eight yards per carry.
