The #19 Nebraska Cornhuskers (5-1) will try to quickly get over their first loss of the year on Saturday when they face the Northwestern Wildcats (3-3). Nebraska won a tight 27-24 game over the Wildcats in 2013.

In their last game, Nebraska lost for the first time on the season when they were beaten 27-22 by Michigan State on the road. They were only able to rush for 47 yards against the Spartans' defense and they also turned the ball over four times.

The Cornhuskers currently have the sixth-best rushing team in that nation by averaging 303.5 yards per game on the ground. Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah has put himself in the Heisman picture by rushing for 878 yards with 10 touchdowns through six games. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. has thrown for 1,325 yards with 10 touchdowns, and he has rushed for 427 yards with two more scores.

Northwestern had their three-game winning streak snapped last Saturday when they were beaten 24-17 by Minnesota on the road. They lost despite outgaining Minnesota 393-274 and only turning the ball over once.

The Wildcats' offense has had its struggles this year, but their defense has only given up 17.5 points per game through six games. Northwestern's top offensive threat has been running back Justin Jackson, who has 502 yards with two touchdowns and he's averaged 4.5 yards per carry.
