In the Military Bowl on Saturday afternoon, the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6) will be hoping their solid defense can handle the high-scoring offense of the Cincinnati Bearcats (9-3). The Hokies finished their regular season in sixth place in the ACC Coastal, while the Bearcats ended up in third in the American standings.

Virginia Tech made it into a bowl game by defeating rival Virginia 24-20 in their final regular season game. They had 433 total yards of offense in that win while their defense held Virginia to just 38 rushing yards.

The Hokies come into their bowl game as the 18th ranked defense in the country by allowing just 20.4 points per game. Junior quarterback Michael Brewer has thrown for 2,598 yards this year with 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wide receiver Bucky Hodges has caught 42 passes for 517 yards and a team-high seven touchdowns.

Cincinnati ended their regular season on a seven-game winning streak after defeating Houston 38-31 at home earlier this month. They had 500 total yards in that game and ended up going 5-for-11 on their third down chances.

The Bearcats have thrown for 300.2 yards per game this season and while scoring over 35 points per game. Quarterback Gunner Kiel has had a solid season by completing 60.2 percent of his passes for 3,010 yards with 30 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions.
